Thursday – Guru – Jupiter
brihaspate tārāpate brahmajāte namostute mahābala vibho gīshpate manju dhanur mīnādhipate mahendrādyupāsita krte mādhavādi vinutadhīmate
Salutations Brhaspati! Lord of Tara, one who is born of Brahma (the creator). Oh omnipresent one, Oh Lord of great strength, Lord of speech, Lord of lovely Dhanus and Mina (Constellations Sagittarius and Pisces), whose form is adored by Indra and the other Gods, and who is the great intellectual honored by divinities like Madhava (an epithet of Krishna).
Guru, or Jupiter, is the teacher of gods, and he is seated in a chariot driven by eight horses. The eight horses represent eight branches of knowledge.
